We’re excited to offer both group and private swim lessons at SPRA this summer! Lessons are taught by certified SPRA lifeguards and are open to children of all skill levels. 🌞


πŸ‘§ Group Lessons (Levels 1–3) – Summer 2025

We’ll be offering two sessions of small group lessons for Levels 1, 2, and 3 during the following weeks:

Registration for both sessions opens June 13, 2025 at 9:00 PM.

πŸ•¦ Time: 11:30β€―AM – 12:00β€―PM (Monday–Friday)

πŸ‘₯ Groups are limited to 2–3 children per instructor for focused, safe instruction.

πŸ’΅ Cost: $70 per session
πŸ’³ Payment: Please pay at the front desk (cash or check only)


🌊 Private Lessons (All Levels) – Summer 2025

Private swim lessons are available for any level β€” whether your child is just starting out, working on more advanced strokes, or prefers individual attention. They’re a great option for swimmers in Levels 4–7 or anyone needing extra help outside of group instruction.

  • πŸ—“οΈ Schedule: After 12:00 PM (excluding 3:00–3:30 PM adult swim)
  • πŸ’΅ Cost: $35 per 30-minute session
  • πŸ’³ Payment: Cash or check made out to SPRA
  • 🚫 Cancellation: Please give 24 hours’ notice directly to your instructor.

🧼 Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills (Ages 3+)

For beginners who are comfortable in the water. Swimmers will learn:

  • 🫧 Bobbing and submerging underwater
  • πŸ›Ÿ Supported front and back floats
  • πŸ” Rolling over (front ↔ back) with support
  • πŸ’¨ Supported glides and flutter kicks
  • πŸ’ͺ Supported front crawl arms
  • 🀿 Jumping into the water

🧭 Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills

For swimmers who can already float and submerge their head. Skills include:

  • πŸ§β€β™‚οΈ Independent front/back floating and rollovers
  • πŸ•ŠοΈ Independent glides (front and back)
  • πŸ’¦ Front and back crawl (arms + kicks)
  • 🎯 Retrieving underwater objects
  • πŸ“‰ Jumping into deeper water

πŸ’« Level 3: Stroke Development

For swimmers comfortable swimming on their front and back. Focus areas:

  • πŸ„ Gliding and freestyle with side breathing
  • πŸ” Backstroke, breaststroke, dolphin kick
  • 🎯 Retrieving objects in deeper water
  • πŸ§β€β™€οΈ Treading water
  • πŸŒ€ Deep water jumps and compact dives

πŸ”„ Level 4: Stroke Improvement

For swimmers who can swim 25 yards front and back crawl. They’ll learn:

  • 🌬️ Rotary breathing (side-to-side)
  • 🏊 Freestyle, backstroke, elementary backstroke
  • βœ‚οΈ Scissors kick and sidestroke
  • πŸ§β€β™‚οΈ Whip kick and breaststroke
  • πŸ” Intro to flip turns and kneeling dives
  • πŸ•Ί Treading water with modified scissors

πŸ”§ Level 5: Stroke Refinement

Swimmers should already be able to swim freestyle, breaststroke, and backstroke 25 yards. Focus is on:

  • 🌬 Alternate breathing and stride jumps
  • Refinement of all major strokes:
    • πŸ§β€β™€οΈ Freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke
    • 🧘 Elementary backstroke, sidestroke, dolphin kick
    • πŸ¦‹ Butterfly introduction
  • πŸ” Open turns and feet-first surface dives
  • πŸ§β€β™‚οΈ Advanced treading water

πŸ₯‡ Level 6: Swimming & Skill Proficiency

Swimmers should already be able to:

  • 🏊 Swim front and back crawl 50 yards
  • 🎽 Elementary backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and sidestroke
  • ⏱️ Tread water for 3 minutes
  • 🀿 Dive safely

They will focus on:

  • πŸ’ͺ All six strokes with advanced technique
  • πŸ” Flip turns (freestyle and backstroke)
  • ⚑ Speed turns (breaststroke and butterfly)
  • ⬇️ Pike and tuck surface dives
  • πŸͺ‚ Diving from the board
  • πŸ•°οΈ Treading water for 5 minutes
  • πŸ†˜ Basic water rescue techniques

πŸš€ Level 7: Stroke Mastery & Endurance

For swimmers who have mastered Level 6 and want to build:

  • ⏱️ Stroke timing, technique, power, and endurance
  • πŸ“ Long-distance swimming with coordinated strokes
  • 🏁 Advanced wall turns and transitions
  • πŸ†˜ Mastery of safety and rescue skills
