Weβre excited to offer both group and private swim lessons at SPRA this summer! Lessons are taught by certified SPRA lifeguards and are open to children of all skill levels. π
π§ Group Lessons (Levels 1β3) β Summer 2025
Weβll be offering two sessions of small group lessons for Levels 1, 2, and 3 during the following weeks:

Registration for both sessions opens June 13, 2025 at 9:00 PM.
π¦ Time: 11:30β―AM β 12:00β―PM (MondayβFriday)
π₯ Groups are limited to 2β3 children per instructor for focused, safe instruction.
π΅ Cost: $70 per session
π³ Payment: Please pay at the front desk (cash or check only)
π Private Lessons (All Levels) β Summer 2025
Private swim lessons are available for any level β whether your child is just starting out, working on more advanced strokes, or prefers individual attention. Theyβre a great option for swimmers in Levels 4β7 or anyone needing extra help outside of group instruction.
- ποΈ Schedule: After 12:00 PM (excluding 3:00β3:30 PM adult swim)
- π΅ Cost: $35 per 30-minute session
- π³ Payment: Cash or check made out to SPRA
- π« Cancellation: Please give 24 hoursβ notice directly to your instructor.

π Swim Lesson Levels
π§Ό Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills (Ages 3+)
For beginners who are comfortable in the water. Swimmers will learn:
- π«§ Bobbing and submerging underwater
- π Supported front and back floats
- π Rolling over (front β back) with support
- π¨ Supported glides and flutter kicks
- πͺ Supported front crawl arms
- π€Ώ Jumping into the water
π§ Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills
For swimmers who can already float and submerge their head. Skills include:
- π§ββοΈ Independent front/back floating and rollovers
- ποΈ Independent glides (front and back)
- π¦ Front and back crawl (arms + kicks)
- π― Retrieving underwater objects
- π Jumping into deeper water
π« Level 3: Stroke Development
For swimmers comfortable swimming on their front and back. Focus areas:
- π Gliding and freestyle with side breathing
- π Backstroke, breaststroke, dolphin kick
- π― Retrieving objects in deeper water
- π§ββοΈ Treading water
- π Deep water jumps and compact dives
π Level 4: Stroke Improvement
For swimmers who can swim 25 yards front and back crawl. Theyβll learn:
- π¬οΈ Rotary breathing (side-to-side)
- π Freestyle, backstroke, elementary backstroke
- βοΈ Scissors kick and sidestroke
- π§ββοΈ Whip kick and breaststroke
- π Intro to flip turns and kneeling dives
- πΊ Treading water with modified scissors
π§ Level 5: Stroke Refinement
Swimmers should already be able to swim freestyle, breaststroke, and backstroke 25 yards. Focus is on:
- π¬ Alternate breathing and stride jumps
- Refinement of all major strokes:
- π§ββοΈ Freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke
- π§ Elementary backstroke, sidestroke, dolphin kick
- π¦ Butterfly introduction
- π Open turns and feet-first surface dives
- π§ββοΈ Advanced treading water
π₯ Level 6: Swimming & Skill Proficiency
Swimmers should already be able to:
- π Swim front and back crawl 50 yards
- π½ Elementary backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and sidestroke
- β±οΈ Tread water for 3 minutes
- π€Ώ Dive safely
They will focus on:
- πͺ All six strokes with advanced technique
- π Flip turns (freestyle and backstroke)
- β‘ Speed turns (breaststroke and butterfly)
- β¬οΈ Pike and tuck surface dives
- πͺ Diving from the board
- π°οΈ Treading water for 5 minutes
- π Basic water rescue techniques
π Level 7: Stroke Mastery & Endurance
For swimmers who have mastered Level 6 and want to build:
- β±οΈ Stroke timing, technique, power, and endurance
- π Long-distance swimming with coordinated strokes
- π Advanced wall turns and transitions
- π Mastery of safety and rescue skills
